Embracing Womanhood

Genesis 1:27
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

Being that this is my first blog post for this particular blog, I figured I would start with what brought us to this journey in the first place...

Husband and I had a conversation with my Uncle & Aunt a few months back that truly opened my eyes.  This particular Uncle & Aunt believe in the traditional outfitting of each gender {i.e. boys will wear pants, have shorter hair and be taught to be masculine and girls will always wear dresses and be taught how to be ladies}.  Growing up I never understood why they felt so strongly about these "rules" but now, especially after our recent discussion about it, I completely get it.  Our world is so obsessed with blurring every line there is; turning 'right' and 'wrong' into 'whatever feels good', making 'man' and 'woman' into 'persons' and saying 'spouse' instead of 'husband' and 'wife'.  We are getting rid of anything and everything that gives definition and difference when the Lord clearly speaks about the differences He chose to make.  In the very beginning of Creation He specifies differences, especially between man and woman.

In a world that is pushing for no lines and blurred genders...We, Husband and Housewife, will take a stand and hold true to who and what the Lord created us to be.  Husband, to be a strong and mighty man of God who leads his family in a way that is pleasing to our King.  And Housewife, to be a humble helpmate and strong example of femininity.  Together, with the leading of our Lord, we can and will stand apart from this world and be an example of why the Lord chose to make us "; male and female..."

With all of that said, the purpose of this blog is to:
1) Keep me accountable in being creative and discovering new ways of embracing my traditional role
2) Encourage you other housewives to stay strong in embracing our calling to womanhood
3) Facilitate more discussion about what it means to be a woman and why that is so precious
    and...
4) Gain some great new recipes and diy ideas {yay!}

I look forward to sharing with you!
Sincerely,
the Housewife
